A-1 Auto Service was established in 1989 by Damion Oancea. The shop's founding was rooted in practical, hands-on problem solving. Damion originally operated a dedicated auto parts supply business at our current Castleton Road location. As he built relationships with local vehicle owners and DIY mechanics, he recognized a clear community need: a vast majority of customers purchasing parts were actively searching for a skilled, trustworthy technician to install them.

Recognizing this opportunity to serve his customers better, Damion expanded operations by opening a full-service automotive repair facility directly out of the back of his parts store. That foundation quickly developed into a trusted neighborhood garage that has served generations of Indianapolis drivers for nearly 40 years.

Carrying forward a legacy of community trust

Under current ownership, A-1 Auto Service continues to uphold and expand upon this rock-solid foundation. Taking ownership of an established facility means taking stewardship of a decades-long legacy built entirely on word-of-mouth recommendations, repeat customers, and long-standing relationships.

To ensure our service keeps pace with advancing automotive technology, our facility has continuously evolved. We constructed a modern service facility at 8170 Castleton Road, expanded bay capacity with additional vehicle lifts, brought on experienced technicians, and regularly invest in modern shop tools — such as advanced tire mounting systems and OEM-level diagnostic software platforms.
